General Day Nursery & After School

At General Day Nursery, we like spending time outside. Our 0-1s and 2-5 year olds each have their own play areas. For our children ages 2 to 5, we offer a sizable outside play space, as well as a separate, quieter area next to our room for ducklings. A mud kitchen, a sound-making area, a story tent, a wide grassy area, a planting and growing area, seating areas in the woods, a water and sand area, a mark-making area, and a building/den area are all included in the spacious outdoor space. Don't forget your wellies and raincoats since we play outside in any weather and we encourage kids to explore their imaginations. We recently constructed a memorial garden in honour of a young kid who once attended the nursery. The kids helped take care of the garden and added their own small finishing touches. Our baby garden is covered, allowing our infants to play outside in any weather. The kids play with sand and water here as well as a variety of toys in this area. To make the most of being outside, our staff team also encourages lots of messy and sensory play. Children of all ages enjoy routine outings throughout the neighbourhood in addition to having access to our fantastic outdoor play grounds. Our older kids frequently visit Parr Nursing Home to meet the residents and observe how life is in the neighbourhood.
