I have been a journalist for more than a decade.
When it comes to aiding kids with the creative writing portion of 11 plus preparation, my background in media is quite helpful.
I've spent the better part of eight years tutoring kids for the 11 Plus, including my own, and I know how to get the best out of them so they can start to shine in time for those tests.
Because of our fondness for word play as journalists, it is important that we have a solid command of the English language.
Children need to be able to think and solve problems from now until the end of their educational journey, thus the foundation needs to be strong. I don't believe in building robots to prepare kids for the 11 Plus.
One component of the 11 Plus exam that kids take is understanding nouns, adjectives, synonyms, and other sentences in the English language.
All of this is possible with the help of an 11 Plus instructor who can simplify the material in a way that is interesting and easy to understand.
Then there is the arithmetic component, which many people, both adults and children, find terrifying.
As a seasoned 11 Pus tutor, my goal is to identify the source of the issue and solve it.
A math A-level is also advantageous.
Since I have a solid understanding of arithmetic, I can simplify it for kids, and they do well with my tutoring.
The 11 Plus tests' verbal and non-verbal reasoning sections, with a few codes here and there, are both extensions of English and arithmetic, respectively.
Working with year 10 and year 11 tutees is all about giving them control over their study and teaching them time management skills.
English, arithmetic, and the three STEM sciences are all subjects for which we offer tutoring.
