The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) establishes guidelines for the education, care, and development of children from birth to age five. Childminders, preschools, nurseries, and school reception classes are all required to adhere to the EYFS, as do all schools and early years providers with an Ofsted registration. The EYFS framework serves as the foundational document for all professionals working in the foundation years and gives parents peace of mind knowing that, no matter where they enrol their child in early education, the same statutory commitments and principles will guide their child's learning and development experience.
