Devizes & District Opportunity Centre

The Devizes and District Opportunity Centre is a small, autonomous nonprofit in the area run by a board of trustees made up of concerned parents and locals.
It was founded in September 1978 by a small group of parents of special needs children who came together to create a pre-school playgroup that would meet the unique health and educational needs of their children while also giving the parents the chance to get together for mutual support and to seek advice and information from medical professionals.
The organisation launched in the former Devizes Sports Club Hut with 6 members when it became a recognised independent charity.
humble beginnings, but six years later, we relocated to a specially constructed structure on Belle Vue Road. Since then, we have continuously evolved and improved in response to the many demands of our member families, shifting social influences, shifting political trends, and changing governmental legislation. Our organisation has been recognised as one of Wiltshire's four District Specialist Centers and is now a highly regarded, efficient, and professional entity.
However, our mission and major goal remain the same as they did at the beginning: to offer our member children the greatest therapy, early intervention, and learning support possible, as well as crucial support for their parents.
We have now worked with kids who have mild to moderate health issues and learning challenges for more than 34 years. Our long-standing, productive working relationships with key governmental and nonprofit sector providers enable high levels of interaction and guarantee the most possible value for our user families and children.
In order to maximise their learning opportunities and support each child in achieving their potential, we closely collaborate to provide a thorough assessment of need and design an ongoing developmental programme of specialist early intervention, particular teaching strategies, stimulating play activities, and fun.
