Datchet Montessori School

Dr. Maria Montessori, who lived from 1870 to 1952, developed the concept that serves as the foundation for the Datchet Montessori school's methodology. Her research demonstrated that young children have a limitless potential to take in knowledge from their environment and that this capacity peaks during the crucial pre-school years. Young toddlers actively engage in exploring their local environment, especially from the age of two when their body motions are more coordinated and their physical independence is growing. Through this process, the infant is able to take in a variety of information, mostly through their sense of touch. The Montessori approach is fundamentally based on the notions of learning through play and individuality. The goal is to channel a child's natural energy into positive action while using a qualified teacher as their mentor to spark their curiosity and inventiveness in the specifically designed setting of a Montessori school. In order to achieve this, the staff collaborates closely to plan, document, observe, and cater to each unique child, adhering to the Montessori philosophy and using resources in conjunction with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. We believe it is our responsibility to give the kids a free choice of activities that are being led by adults in the classroom. This is done to support a growing sense of independence while maintaining a sense of belonging to a group.
