Children learn and grow successfully in supportive environments where their experiences are tailored to meet their unique requirements and there is a close working relationship between educators, parents, and caregivers (EYFS 2017).
The setting at Daisychain is designed to be interesting for all of our students, to foster critical and inquisitive thinking, and to give them the freedom to actively explore their surroundings in a secure setting.
The activities and toys must be interesting, challenging, and still within the children's reach in order for them to be age and developmentally appropriate for each child.
All kids can reach the toys in the rooms because they are arranged and exhibited in a way that makes kids want to play with them.
We offer role-playing locations that may be modified to fit the needs of the children as well as their present interests. For instance, a kid who is anxious about starting school could need a role-playing area made up as a classroom to help him or her role-play the new experiences.
All of our lower rooms have direct access to the outside, giving our kids the chance to use the playground equipment.
We believe that because children learn in a holistic setting, it is impossible to segment their education.
As a result, we make advantage of our surroundings to offer a variety of games and activities that can foster an all-encompassing learning environment.
While we are aware of how important it is to provide our kids with activities that spark their interests, we also think kids should have the chance to participate in some adult-led activities like reading aloud, puppet shows, number games, music and movement classes, as well as the chance to experiment with technology, make number lines, and learn the basics of mark-making (and for older children early writing activities).
Through these encounters, our kids can learn skills in subjects they might not have known they were passionate about.
In order to create a stimulating learning environment for the kids, we employ tools that are both developmentally and age-appropriate.
Our children, however, also add to the planning we do for the toys and play locations.
Children in the preschool room contribute by mind-mapping their ideas for their role-playing spaces and for their room decorations.
To choose our weekly interests and themes, we use mind maps each week.
The toddler room and infant room materials are all available to the kids, letting them pick from a variety that has already been curated to meet their unique requirements and stages of development.
This clearly illustrates to our kids and their parents how vital we find their home life to be.
At Daisychain, we take pleasure in being active members of our neighbourhood.
The countryside is right outside our door, so we can have space to explore in a monitored and regulated environment as we build our forest school programmes for our three and four-year-olds.
