As the Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) for East Sussex, College Central provides full-time educational opportunities for students who are at danger of permanent exclusion or who have already been permanently excluded. Our strategy is to re-engage students in their studies.
We create a learning atmosphere and a love of learning through a solid curriculum, qualified staff, and excellent interactions between staff and students.
We are dedicated to students making significant progress and attaining favourable results through our several campuses and varied courses.
Our exam results routinely above national averages for similar provision as a result.
Despite the fact that many of our students display problematic behaviours (thus their referral to us), College Central is a supportive environment where students may learn, take pleasure in their studies, and collaborate.
Students are engaged in lessons, work hard, and take pride in their work, and College Central continuously aspires to this.
Beyond the moral motivation and guiding principles, College Central is physically organised to serve the needs of 28 different schools located over the whole of East Sussex.
College Central is a complex amalgamation of various places as a result.
Our primary campus in Eastbourne's Hampden Park serves 16 KS3 students and 20 KS4 students.
This location shares space with New Horizons, our sister SEMH school in St. Leonards-on-Sea.
Historically, the location has served as both a special school and a residential area.
The Harbour, which is housed at the College Central Tile Barn site, provides accommodations for 8 nervous KS3 and KS4 students.
These don't belong to the larger College Central groupings.
180 Degrees is a four-day programme that students can attend for a limited period of time and is intended to increase involvement through OAA events and extracurricular activities.
