Our Vision is:

Crossens Nursery School is a Sefton Local Authority Nursery School. The Nursery is based on a site shared with Larkfield Primary and Presfield and Peterhouse Special Schools.
We provide Nursery Education for up to 90 three and four year olds and 16 two year olds. Children attending Crossens Nursery School move on to attend a number of local Primary schools with whom we have developed strong links.
The information contained in this website is intended to provide you with a broad outline of what Crossens Nursery School has to offer, covering admissions to the school, our aims, how we are organised, the curriculum offered and support available for children with Special Educational Needs or a disability.
We were delighted that the quality of our provision was recognised in our last inspection (June 2017), where we were judged to be outstanding in all areas. We were fortunate to be asked to work with OFSTED to pilot their new inspection framework in July 2019.
Our aspiration for the children who attend Crossens Nursery School is that they become confident, self-motivated learners, with the necessary skills and attitudes to achieve the best possible outcomes in their learning and development. We achieve this through the delivery of high quality education and the development of effective partnerships.
Our provision is underpinned by the development of children's Characteristics of Effective Learning as we believe that children learn best when; they develop a positive sense of themselves as a confident, competent and independent learner, are happy and secure and have formed a trusting relationship with the adults who work with them.
We actively promote the fundamental British values of: democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect of those with different faiths or beliefs. For Nursery children this means learning right from wrong, learning to take turns and share, the promotion of positive views and challenging of stereotypes.

Children and their families are central to our vision and it is our aim that governors staff, parents / carers and other professionals work together relentlessly to deliver high quality provision that directly addresses the needs of each child.

We are constantly reviewing the effectiveness of our provision. We set out our key improvement targets in an annual 'School Improvement Plan' while our longer term targets and aspirations are recorded in our 3 Year Strategic plan.
Informed by the findings of our most recent OFSTED Inspection, including feedback from the recent pilot inspection, and as a result of regular review and evaluation of our School, which involves feedback from parents, these are the priorities that governors and staff are working on during 2019-20:
Review the school's curriculum coverage in line with the revised OFSTED Inspection Framework
Develop and Implement a Professional Development Programme for all teaching staff
Continue to promote the highest standards of behaviour supporting children to develop as confident, independent and resilient learners
Give Safeguarding the highest priority
Continue to develop and consolidate the Characteristics of Effective Learning
Continue to extend the impact of the school to include other school and nursery settings within and beyond Sefton.
