Brookside Pre-School

At the peak of Gatley Hill, in the scout cabin, is where you'll find Brookside Pre-School. We are quite blessed to have farms, woods, and a creek all around us. We make the most of this and embark on impromptu trips. When we are outside, we use a Forest School methodology, teaching the kids about safety and limits while letting them take charge of their own education. Children can learn life skills while exploring outdoors and using natural resources to foster imaginative play and role-playing. Our regular forays into the woods help us raise kids who are physically competent, attuned to their natural environment, imaginative, creative, and risk-aware. What a crucial life lesson for the kids to learn. A large portion of a child's educational experience is devoted to formal instruction and evaluation. So, in our opinion, the formative years need to be a period for creating treasured experiences. Children must be given the freedom to pursue their individual interests, to explore and learn via mistakes, to make friends, and to learn more about themselves and the world around them. Every kid should feel loved and appreciated in the atmosphere we strive to provide. Children are gently supported and encouraged by professionals at Brookside to grow independent and to foster a natural interest for learning in them.
