Bluebird Kindergarten

Our headquarters are in Allerton, next to Penny Lane, and we rent space in a number of classrooms next to Elm Hall Drive Methodist Church. Since 1978, we have been under the same management and have thrived solely on referrals. Open Monday through Friday, 8.30 am to 4 pm during the academic year. Open throughout the break. For all of the children who attend on a full- or part-time basis, our team of passionate teachers is committed to providing a diverse and dynamic curriculum full of engaging activities. Joanne and Sheila Carmichael, the co-owners, are on duty to respond to your inquiries or to talk about the nursery day. About 50 years ago, Mai Bradbury opened Bluebird Kindergarten in Mossley Hill. Before beginning her work with the under fives at Elm Hall Drive, she had taught at the secondary school level in the UK and the Middle East. Additionally, Mai led acting classes and contributed to the development of MYD (Merseyside Youth Drama). Mrs. Carmichael started making costumes and developed an interest in stage and theatre for preschoolers as a result of Mais' work with children and drama, which resulted in the creation of numerous amateur plays performed on stage at the Neptune Theatre. Sheila Carmichael, who had previously collaborated with Mai for 13 years, took over sole ownership of Bluebird after Mai retired in 1990 at the age of 80. Mai, who was 83 years old, tragically died in London in December 1993.
