We offer a very specialised and singular learning environment, ensuring that we can suit a variety of learning needs.
We all share a culture of having high expectations for our children and young people, and we strive to give them an education that is of the highest calibre, is balanced, and is focused on their individual, personal, and academic success.
There are 160 children enrolled in the Birch Wood School learning community, spread out over three venues, including our Post 16 Center.
The high functioning autism programme at Birch Wood offers a highly personalised learning environment.
A specialised, low-sensory atmosphere and established routines are beneficial to students.
At key stage 3, students have access to a therapeutic setting, primary-trained teachers, and secondary-trained topic specialists.
Although we have very high expectations for our students' academic performance, we also realise how crucial it is to lay the correct foundations for learning in order for them to succeed.
Students with numerous learning disabilities on the moderate learning problems continuum, including autism, are served by Birch Wood Vale from the ages of 11 to 16.
We provide a mainstream-style curriculum that is comprehensive and balanced and gives students the chance to pursue a variety of credentials, including GCSEs.
With no more than 12 kids in a class, we are able to offer both subject specialists and SEND specialised teachers in a cosy setting.
As a result, we can guarantee that kids receive a thoughtful balance of academic possibilities, life skills, including adulthood preparation, and therapeutic input.
The Nook is a nurture base that provides a customised programme for children with high functioning autism ages 11 to 16.
Students have the option of following a customised curriculum with expert advice from experts and subject specialists.
Students can enrol in GCSE courses, a variety of vocational programmes, and appropriate psychological help in a serene, structured setting.
Our Post 16 centre offers 16 to 19-year-olds with a range of requirements a unique and specialised learning environment.
Three classes are divided up among the students to accommodate PMLD, SLD, and MLD.
We provide a wide variety of certified courses that help students move on to further education, the workforce, or specialised settings.
Students will have the chance to advance their reading and numeracy fundamentals while building on their prior learning.
Our Post 16 Lead collaborates closely with families and outside organisations to make sure that our young people receive the care they need to be prepared for life after Birch Wood.
Our ENABLES ethos guides our teaching and learning at all of our locations, and we strive to produce young adults who are happy and self-assured and are prepared for their next steps in education.
