Big Robins Nursery

To ease the transition for your infant from the house to the nursery, we have given this space a warm and inviting homey vibe.
We provide individualised settling-in visits prior to your baby's start date so that both mom and baby can get used to the setting and feel at ease in the nursery.
During these visits, the Early Years Practitioner/Key Carer will talk with you about your baby's needs and a schedule that will fit in with your home routine and your particular preferences.
This will be covered during the handover that occurs at the conclusion of each session.
Once your child is independent and you approve of them moving on, the transfer from the baby room to the toddler room is started. This is planned out with brief initial visits to give your child time to get used to the new people and surroundings.
Your kid will be assigned an Early Years Practitioner/key carer to ensure physical touch and emotional support while also attending to their unique educational and physical needs.
Regarding sleep schedules, we make an effort to adhere to the home routine; however, at this point, a straightforward pattern of activities is introduced.
To ensure that their developmental requirements are fulfilled, the team works within the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
Additionally, Play Dough, Gloop, Sand, painting, and other fine motor skill-building activities will be provided for the children.
Children have time for free play, where they can decide for themselves what to do and when.
In our specially designed play area and garden, we encourage outside play.
Usually at this point, potty training is introduced.
It is recommended that your child move into this area once they turn two.
Here children become more self-sufficient with potty training/toilet training with support on hygiene with hand washing and dressing themselves.
Their primary caregiver continuously encourages and monitors their growth through play and activities.
Physical play indoors and outdoors in the play area and garden, encouraging exploring and observation of their environment.
We encourage and support children in dealing with their emotions in an appropriate way and manage challenging behaviour in a positive manner, working in partnership with parents and carers to ensure consistent boundaries and applied at home and nursery.
Staff members reward and encourage positive behaviour.
Throughout the nursery the Early Years Foundation stage Framework is adhered too working towards the early learning goals.
Key development areas are covered in the foundation stage.
As children move into pre-school more time is devoted to 4 specific areas via play.
The Pre-School room provides a schedule to aid the kids in adjusting to going to school.
The routine within pre-school is more structured to allow the need for Literacy and Numeracy to be introduced, children start to learn about phonics to assist with reading and writing skills.
The staff at the nursery actively encourages the kids to choose their own activities.
Children can help themselves to meals that are offered in the classroom.
Children are taught table manners and how to eat appropriately, staff sit at the tables to encourage and act as positive role models.
