From the Berry Lane Nursery
The Nursery environment is very accessible and meets the current disability regulations.
We have toys and equipment at your childs level.
We do not have a disabled toilet with wheelchair access, however, there is room to access the toilets available with the help of an adult.
We can adapt our provision to accommodate the individual needs of a child.
There is parking available outside the Nursery.
Pam Elliott has 14 years experience in the role and has worked with children with a wide range of needs.
We also have a good relationship with all the local feeder schools, and this will make the process of moving to a new setting much easier for your child.
The qualified and experienced staff plan a varied and broad curriculum for all the children by providing a range of activities.
The children are continually learning new skills & benefitting from social interaction in a fun and stimulating environment.
All children will have a learning journey which is an ongoing document.
From the learning journey observations we can identify a childs next steps.
A development tracker is then completed 3 times a year which will highlight any gaps in your childs development.
Your childs key person will develop a strong bond with your child, which will start with a home visit; and we will work with you to ensure your child is happy and settled at Nursery.
For children with SEND all of the above applies with additional support for the child and family from the 2 qualified SENCOs within the setting.
If the staff have any concerns regarding your child they would initially talk to you and with your permission they would refer your child to the Early Years Support Team .
Parents will be involved throughout the process and are encouraged to speak to a member of staff should they wish to at any time.
All staff have a lot of experience with working with children with special needs.
We endeavour to teach Makaton sign language to all our children in order that they are all able to communicate using different approaches Our SENCo has over 14 years experience supporting children with a wide range of needs and disabilities.
Nursery staff attend any relevant training course run by HertsCC and if needed staff would attend specific training for working with children with SEND.
