Barnes Montessori Nursery

The Barnes Montessori Nursery was established in the summer of 1969 in the Shoreline Building (next to the Rick Stein Restaurant, formerly the Depot) at the end of White Hart Lane in Barnes by Celine Argent (later Madame Jolivet Gerber) and Debbie Chadbon (after Mrs. Pitt).
Some of the kids relocated to St. Margarets Montessori School, which eventually opened.
Mrs. Marcia Donaldson purchased the Barnes Montessori Nursery from Mrs. Argent in 1981.
But she also played a crucial role in making the school one of the most well-liked in the Borough.
Midway through the 1980s, Marcia had to deal with a challenging period when the school's future was briefly in doubt.
After that, the school relocated in February 1986 to its current location at the Barnes Sports Club in Barnes.
It is located in Richmond upon Thames, a borough of London.
She transferred ownership of the institution to Anne-Marie True, whose three children later attended the school.
St. Nicholas Montessori College provided Anne-Marie True with her education in 1985. (now Montessori Centre International).
Anne-Marie received a national award as the 2011 Montessorian of the Year in recognition of her devotion, professionalism, and commitment to the Montessori approach to learning and development and her tireless effort for Nursery education.
It is appreciative of the long-standing partnership with the Barnes Sports Club, which both the School and the Club consider to be advantageous for the entire neighbourhood.
Our kids are lucky to have a big green field close to the school where they may freely play, explore, and have fun in a safe space.
Anne-Marie strongly supports the Montessori method of education and development because she values excellence in caring and high standards.
The Montessori Evaluation and Accreditation Board has both initially and re-accredited The Barnes Montessori Nursery (MEAB).
The programme provides support and direction to Montessori schools in order to guarantee high-quality Montessori instruction.
It also seeks to reassure parents that we also meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Anne-Marie received a request to join the Centenary Committee for England in 2007.
The Barnes Montessori Nursery contributed to the celebration of the Montessori movement's 100th anniversary.
Being selected as one of the schools taking part in the Centenary service at Westminster Abbey was a great honour for our school.
Following extensive investigation, Anne-Marie began teaching forest school one afternoon each week in September 2014.
The school held a summer fair in 2019 to commemorate its 50th anniversary.
The School is still on the lookout for novel concepts and is always being inventive.
