Back To The Garden Childcare Centre

Our mission is to provide a daycare environment where young children can learn and communicate effectively, grow in mental, physical, and spiritual health, and feel safe in their sense of identity and commitment to their community and larger society. We believe that every child is capable, interested, and responsible for driving their own learning. Our guiding principle encourages kids to just be kids—to explore their surroundings, play with the outdoors and all of its natural resources, use their imaginations to the fullest, and feel like valued members of a large, loving family. Our role as facilitators in the childcare environment is to create the greatest environment possible so that each child can grow at his or her own rate and learn naturally through the enjoyment of play and social interaction with others. In addition to meals and breaks, we allow kids to choose how and what they learn, pursue their own interests, and show their independence and uniqueness. We think that the finest learning is flexible and that young children in preschool have the luxury of time to learn naturally and unhurriedly while they are still young. At Back to the Garden, we believe that there are no right or wrong ways to go about things and that there are only ways that work for the individual child.
