Ashfield Play Care Scheme

In 1990, the programme ran during the summer vacations and afterwards launched a prosperous after-school club. The committee and officers were successful in securing funds from a number of sources, allowing the plan to purchase its own building. The initial outdoor play spaces have been expanded. Sadly, a fire at the Playscheme in December 2012 resulted in the total destruction of the structure. Fortunately, nobody was around at the time. We were able to rebuild with a bigger and better purpose-built structure where we are housed today because of the assistance and donations we got. A team of qualified employees manages the Scheme on a daily basis. Our staff members have undergone DBS and Ofsted background checks, hold the necessary childcare credentials, and have gone through additional training in areas like paediatric first aid, health and safety, etc. An unpaid elected committee oversees the programme and meets often throughout the year. We actively recruit additional parents of children enrolled in the programme to serve on our committee and its several subcommittees. We work together to maintain the Scheme's high standards and ensure that it conforms with all rules set forth by Ofsted and other regulating organisations. Parental contributions, Gift Aid, as well as other gifts from a variety of sources make up the remaining portion of our income.
