The Royal College of Psychiatrists has granted The Amicus Community full accreditation as a Therapeutic Community, assuring our children, clients, commissioners, government agencies, regulators, parents/caregivers, and the general public that our Therapeutic Community is of the highest calibre.
Amicus is dedicated to providing children and young people with meaningful care and education through therapeutic services guided by psychodynamic and group process models, in structured and psychologically informed environments.
As a result, the QMS used in the provision is made to show compliance with both the Community of Communities' core and peer review requirements as well as the National Minimum Standards. (
Many of our kids are able to cope well with this input, but occasionally it's thought that the kid could benefit from private treatment sessions with a child psychotherapist or a trained play therapist.
Many of the children admitted to Amicus can be classified as having some sort of "Attachment Disorder." It may be difficult for them to trust people and build healthy connections as a result of their likely early exposure to tumultuous and abusive attachments.
The children have a strong sense of belonging, care, and nurturing thanks to the routines, structures, and boundaries of the surroundings at Amicus, as well as the numerous meeting areas, a supportive (and supported) peer group, staff members, and 24-hour support.
If you'd like, you might think of it as "therapy on tap." Our team is skilled, well-supported, and trained in this method of operation.
All of our staff receive training, clinical and line management supervision, and many of them attend their own analysis. In addition, all of our staff has access to a variety of meeting spaces where they can present their work with the children and how it affects them and the group, such as Group Dynamics meetings and group work discussions.
