Along with our devoted extended professional staff, Alyths clergy team contains a diversity of individuals in terms of age, interests, abilities, and personalities.
We want our rabbis to be trailblazers in their profession, building a synagogue renowned for its dynamism and inclusive Judaism.
Rabbi Josh Levy, who oversees our professional team, is joined by Rabbi Hannah Kingston, Rabbi Elliott Karstadt, Cantor Tamara Wolfson, and Rabbi Josh Levy.
The team is proud to make a difference outside the walls of our synagogues and is in charge of many aspects of life at Alyth.
Their interactions with people from different parts of the community are essential to the work they conduct.
He wrote his rabbinic thesis on Tractate Gerim of the Babylonian Talmud, which deals with laws of converts and conversion, and these topics particularly interest him: the interaction of Reform with Halakhah (Jewish Law), and questions of conversion and status.
On behalf of the leadership of the synagogues, Rabbi Josh oversees the Alyth professional staff.
Hannah felt moved to desire to spread her love of Judaism after being inspired by the rabbis and ardent leaders she met.
Hannah has a unique responsibility in developing relationships and programmes to meet the needs of the numerous young families that call Alyth their home, in addition to partaking in regular rabbinic duties.
Tamara was reared in New York, where she was exposed to music at her synagogue, school, and place of residence.
Elliott, a frequent Limmud presenter and instructor, has taught widely in the Progressive community, notably at his alma mater, the Finchley Progressive Synagogue.
Elliott earned his undergraduate degree from Cambridge University in 2008 before pursuing his PhD in intellectual history at Queen Mary University of London in 2013.
Elliott has led the way for religious groups to respond to the needs of individuals who are experiencing homelessness in our area as chair of Together in Barnet, whose Winter Shelter project Alyth is a partner in.
Since 2015, Rabbi Colin Eimer has worked sporadically for the Alyth organisation.
