Wolverhampton was a small community of landowners and farmers in the year AD 985.
All Saints was good farmland over this entire period.
The Industrial Revolution was about to dramatically alter Wolverhampton in the late 1700s.
Over 100 foundries popped up in the town due to the presence of coal and iron deposits.
Early in the 1800s, the town enjoyed royal favour.
In 1864, a church and a classroom were originally built in Steelhouse Lane on the site of an abandoned pigsty.
The same year saw the opening of All Saints School.
The world economy experienced tougher circumstances in the 1970s.
Low incomes and ageing homes contributed to All Saints' demise.
Its long history as a red-light district didn't help, and it had developed a reputation as a place to stay away from.
1980 saw All Saints cut off from the town centre by the recently constructed Ring Road.
The Royal Hospital collapsed in 1997 not long after Travel West Midlands closed their sizable bus station in 1995.
The region has undergone some significant physical changes over the first ten years of the new millennium.
Many of the non-listed buildings on the Royal Hospital site have now been demolished after Tesco UK purchased the property.
In order to make way for a housing development, the former GKN plant on Steelhouse Lane has now been destroyed.
A number of heritage pathways were built around the All Saints and Blakenhall region by the ABCD Heritage Project and Walking for Health.
