Woodfield Infant School collaborates with St. George's Junior School to educate, nurture, and empower its students.
Our goal is to create a fantastic, joyful environment at school where everyone contributes to making each student their best selves.
Be sympathetic Be diligent. Participate in our team Just be Woodfield. Whether they are students, teachers, parents, volunteers, governors, or anybody else, we want them to feel that they are a part of the Woodfield community.
Metacognition and self-regulation are encouraged at Woodfield Infant School in all subject areas and at all times during the school day.
Children that exhibit metacognition and self-regulation are those who reflect on their own thinking, understand the purpose of learning, and manage their own education.
Children need to know and be able to apply a set of learning dispositions in order to be metacognitive and be able to self-regulate.
Each learning power is symbolised by an animal from the learning jungle, and each learning power is connected with a set of behaviours and characteristics.
Concentration, resiliency, curiosity, cooperation, and self-improvement are the learning abilities.
Through a series of introductory lessons, the kids are exposed to the learning powers, the learning jungle, and each of the animals.
The adults in each session explicitly teach the youngsters the language and serve as role models for each power and the behaviours that go along with it.
The learning abilities are then reinforced through gatherings and regular activities, with both adults and children using the language of metacognition.
The many Learning Powers are described, along with the behaviours and qualities they are connected with, in the Learning Jungle Poem.
The students continue their linear educational path at St. Georges Junior School throughout the primary period, building on the metacognitive and self-regulation abilities they acquire and employ while attending Woodfield Infant School.
Be kind and diligent. Participate in the team Just be Woodfield.
