Some of the text on these pages is not the easiest to grasp.
When used with a screen reader, several aspects that disclose concealed content, including tabbed content, may be challenging to use.
The order in which elements acquire emphasis when tabbing on our online store does not match the visual flow of the page when using a keyboard to complete the checkout process.
Content from systems provided by an outside supplier is present on some of our pages.
We are aware that some of these tools have accessibility problems.
Such problems will be brought to the suppliers' attention, and we will work with them to make their equipment more user-friendly.
The Matterport platform's 360 visualisations are only partially usable with a keyboard.
We also employed WAVE and axe, two additional automated testing tools.
Manual testing: We manually examined a representative sample of pages from throughout our website using an accessibility checklist.
User testing: We have been speaking with individuals who require special access, asking them to demonstrate their use of the York website and any issues they encounter.
Review by an outside party: Jisc was commissioned to evaluate our website.
Through testing, we discovered a number of problems with our templates that were plaguing a significant portion of the pages on our website.
Most of these issues have now been fixed.
Siteimprove will be used more frequently to find and address content problems that affect specific pages.
We are included checklists to follow in our training materials and documentation for staff members who alter the website.
Training on creating accessible documents is also available to staff.
A working group on e-accessibility has been established, including participation from services across the University.
We are transferring our website material into newer themes that come pre-equipped with accessibility capabilities.
External suppliers of our online systems have been asked about the standards that their systems meet, and when they plan to meet the required standards if they do not already do so.
All new system purchases will request vendors to submit details on accessibility guidelines.
We are making sure that accessibility considerations and testing are a part of all of our development processes.
