Weddington Out of Hours Club

Activities: Staff and children work together to record activities in a large floor book. This book is extremely popular and offers children the opportunity to reflect on and discuss previous experiences.

Communication: Leaders seek the views of parents and children. They use regular questionnaires to gather thoughts from parents.

Community Building: Comments from parents and children are displayed and these form part of the planning for future activities and opportunities.

Programs and Resources: The provision is inclusive. Leaders and staff are knowledgeable about how to most effectively support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Staff Training: They work closely with teachers from the school so they can provide continuity in children's care.

Welcoming and Professional Staff: Parents comment particularly on the warm and friendly staff and leaders.

Safeguarding Training: Staff attend regular training and refresh their knowledge through professional discussions at staff meetings.

Play and Learning Integration: Children enjoy spending time outdoors. They organize and participate in team games and sports.

Diversity Management: The provision is inclusive. Leaders and staff are knowledgeable about how to most effectively support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Child Safety Management: Leaders have developed robust and effective systems for keeping children safe.

Children's Safety and Security: Children are aware of the need to follow hygiene rules before serving themselves with their snack. They rest in the shade after they have been involved in physical play.

Teaching Personal Safety: Staff support children to learn about keeping themselves safe. They enable children to develop their understanding of online safety.

Happiness and Settling: Children are happy on arrival at the club. They talk enthusiastically with staff about the learning they have been involved in at school.
