Valley House Nursery

Activities: Older children enjoy exploring what happens when they mix two colours of paint together. With staff's support, younger children really enjoy having a go at riding on two-wheeled scooters.

Skills , Knowledge and Behavior: Staff are beginning to help children to learn the difference between right and wrong. Staff support children to take turns, be kind and share with one another.

Communication: Parents enthusiastically share their views about this nursery with the inspector. They describe the care and opportunities their children receive as 'fantastic', and the staff as 'fabulous people', who support them through difficult times in their lives.

Community Building: Staff sensitively review support for parents, with them and other professionals, and increase or decrease services according to the current needs and wishes of the family.

Programs and Resources: There is a strong emphasis on making sure all families receive an individual package of support and provision to meet the needs of the whole family.

Staff Training: Staff are knowledgeable about the signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect and the reporting procedures they must follow.

Welcoming and Professional Staff: Staff gently welcome children on arrival. Children settle quickly through having a cuddle with a member of staff or engaging in the good variety of activities on offer.

Safeguarding Training: Staff are fully aware of their responsibilities in the event of a concern about a child in their care.

Play and Learning Integration: Children are beginning to learn how to keep themselves safe. Staff remind them when they use the climbing wall to make sure they have their foot securely in a hole before moving to the next.
