A child's education is greatly impacted by the Early Years Foundation Stage, or EYFS.
Reception class students are in their last year of the Early Years Foundation Stage, and their days are filled with play-based learning and practical indoor and outdoor activities.
All of the children in our Reception programme will be able to grow into confident, content adults who are prepared to begin the next phase of their education in Key Stage 1 by developing their independent learning abilities.
All learning domains can benefit from the Characteristics of Effective Learning, which are emphasised throughout the school day and are outlined in the EYFS curriculum.
We are enthusiastic readers at Treverbyn Academy.
Through the regular use of the phonics programme Read Write Inc., children are taught to read.
The Reception class instructor will meet with each child's key person and pay a visit to them at their present location (if applicable).
The first week of the autumn semester will feature home visits by the teacher of the Reception class.
We create a Learning Journey for each child at the end of the school year that includes observations and comments on their development.
To achieve this, we use a safe online application called Tapestry, where parents may observe and participate in their child's Learning Journey.
The children in Reception must read frequently in order to develop into independent readers.
Your child's learning at home will be supported by five to ten minutes a day of reading to an adult.
