The Orchard Community Pre-School

In 1986, the Orchard Community Pre-School initially opened its doors (having been Cedar Lodge Playgroup before then). The funds needed to purchase the facility and have it constructed in its current location behind the Milford Village Hall were raised by the parents and caregivers of the pre-school students.
The Waverley Borough Council has leased the property on which it is located. The pre-school committee successfully generated enough money in 1999, following eighteen months of fund-raising, to expand the pre-school and add a much-needed extra room. The fundraising efforts of parents and caregivers persisted, and in 2010 our most recent construction project included a ramp for the handicapped in addition to a new porch and office.
This allowed for the former office to be converted into a peaceful room, providing the kids with even more room. The Orchard Community Pre-School features a lovely garden, a play space, and a covered outdoor play area all to itself. Both inside and outside, it contains a wide range of equipment.
The Pre-School is licenced by OFSTED and undergoes routine inspections. We are a part of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, an umbrella group that helps us with things like staff development and insurance.
