Strawberry How the private day nursery at Nursery School in Cockermouth operates.
Within the Cockermouth Area we are the only setting with specialist facilities and staff specially trained to care for babies.
We are the only recently inspected Ofsted Outstanding nursery or school in the Cockermouth Area.
We have the highest accreditation from Cumbria Childrens' Services and since 2009 we are the only Nursery in the Cockermouth Area to have a 5 star food hygiene rating from Environmental Health.
Within our setting we seek to offer professional, high-quality childcare and early years education within a friendly and caring atmosphere for children aged 3 months to 5 years old.
We have had a 5-star food hygiene rating since 2009.
We do not charge by a Day Rate rather our fees are charged by the hour.
We progressively discount fees dependent of the number of hours attending (sibling's hours are combined) and we offer the Government's Extended funding over 51 weeks/year.
Our Nursery facilities are second to none.
We have recently benefited from a generous extension that increased the footprint by 40%.
This means we now offer spacious accommodation within three dedicated (0-21mths) (22mth-35mths) and (36-60mths) rooms together with a separate dining room and separate and three secure free flow ground floor play areas from all rooms.
All our staff are fully qualified at least to NVQ3 although two are qualified teachers with teaching degrees.
Seven of our staff are mothers themselves.
Most importantly our staff are all full-time.
This means our children have the security of seeing the same adults each day.
Ofsted commended our nursery on its dedicated approach to offering extensive educational experiences that went beyond the requirements of the EYFS.
We use Tapestry the online reporting journal - that links to your phone.
We publish our thematic planning for our 3 areas (within this website after log in and on Tapestry) for parental access.
Our staffing ratios are always higher than that recommended by Ofsted who, it should be said, specifically commented on the happiness of our children.
We do not have open days - rather you need to arrange an appointment to view and to discuss your requirements.
