The children's safety and security are very important to us at Soham Playgroup. To ensure that your kids are kept secure, we follow strict policies and procedures on a daily basis.
Once drop-off is complete and class has started, the front gate is padlocked, and the main doors to the school reception and our classrooms are kept shut. Only after a buzzer is hit and a staff member unlocks the doors is entry permitted. Visitors must sign in at the main school office where they are required to provide identification and are strictly permitted only by appointment. Children are never left unattended, and during all of our sessions, we use a 1:4 ratio for toddlers and a 1:6 ratio for children ages 3 and 4. All of our employees have undergone advanced DBS checks. Without prior notice being given to a staff member, children will not be released to anybody other than their parent or legal guardian.
A copy of Ofsted's inspection report is always available. They visit the playgroup. Every half term, a fire drill is conducted, and the staff keeps track of it. Both staff and students are instructed on how to evacuate the buildings in case of fire. Please use caution in the parking lot since there may be young children around. The playgroup is a non-smoking facility.
