From the Seesaws Day Nursery
Seesaws Day Nursery & Nursery School was established in 1994 with the goal of changing the institutional atmosphere of child nurseries and giving staff and students a second family. We currently operate 5 nurseries in Birmingham and Wolverhampton, together with 2 vacation programmes and before- and after-school programmes.
I gained insight into the needs of children and young people through my experience as the chair of the board of governors of a local primary school for 21 years and as a magistrate for 25 years. These experiences were helpful in developing transition programmes for the kids in our care and expanding the staff teams.
As a result, Seesaws has taught over 300 young people through national apprenticeship programmes, and nobody in the business is untrained or unqualified.
I had a lot of administrative experience when I left in 1996, and this enabled me the self-assurance to move on to executive positions, spending 10 years at the examination board, until I joined the Seesaws Family in March 2014 as the Chief Administrator.
In the East Midlands, I also joined the board of a big social housing provider, where I rose to the position of group chair, which I maintained until my tenure ended in 2019.
I have gained recognition as a governance expert over the years and have served as a statutory appointment on the boards of several organisations whose performance needed to be improved.
