Scl At Wonersh And Shamley Green Primary School

During a unique history fortnight, we looked into the history of our institution. We learned that our school used to have a farm where kids could learn how to take care of animals and weave, spin, and sew. To learn about the past, we looked at our school's log books. When former students visit the school, the kids quiz them.
We appreciate Michael Harding from the Shamley Green History Society who spoke to the kids about our school's past and the village residents who came and taught the kids how to knit, spin, and sew. Additionally, a mobile farm stopped by, and we enjoyed meeting all the animals. We went to the Rural Living Centre in Farnham to learn more about life during the two world wars and in the 19th century, when our school was established.

Henry Channell gave 4 a year to establish our school as a charitable institution in Wonersh in 1683.
Earl Onslow gave the land for a school to be erected on Norley Common, where we are now. The structure was finished in October 1842, and it welcomed 60 kids when it first opened in 1843.
In 1884, the school underwent another expansion to add 298 seats.
London and Brighton evacuees moved to the area and enrolled in our school during the second world war.
In the 1970s, the artist Tony Hart frequently stopped by, and students from the school made appearances in his works.
