Our goal at Lower Shaw Farm is to do everything well. We enjoy being serious and having fun, working and playing, discovering new things and making friends. We like good conversation, music-making, and storytelling around a fire in the yard, by the woodstove, or in the Circle Garden. We also prefer healthy cuisine. At Lower Shaw Farm, we believe that today's stranger can become tomorrow's friend and that life is a learning experience. The farm, which formerly housed 70 black and white cows, has been transformed into a 3-acre suburban development's oasis. Residents Andrea, Matt, and a fantastic group of volunteers from near and far administer it as a cooperative. The Hayloft, our magnificent yoga studio, the kitchen, a dining area for small parties, and guest rooms are all located in the main farmhouse. The outbuildings have been transformed into additional lodging, meeting spaces, and workshops. There is also a stunning rustic sauna with a grass roof (shown on the right). The farm has a distinct ambiance and personality thanks to its expansive vegetable, herb, and flower gardens, bushes, trees, puddles, and ponds, as well as its flocks of hens and ducks, black and white sheep, friendly piglets, antique red tractor, and unspoiled spaces for play and exploration. Its rough exterior hides an orderly and welcoming interior. It's quite beautiful, inviting, and kind of wild.
