Milton Road has a strong sense of community thanks to the kind and helpful parents and caregivers, the wonderful PTA, the committed and gifted collegiate faculty of teachers, the efficient and capable governing body, and the delightful, enthusiastic, self-assured, thoughtful, and articulate children.
The ongoing success of Milton Road is a team effort, and we all put in a lot of effort to make sure that the kids learn something useful every day.
Based on Valerie Hannon's Thrive model, our concentric Cambridge Connected curriculum aims to develop the whole child, including their personal, intrapersonal, academic, societal, and global aspects. This goal is encapsulated in the curriculum words Identity, Connection, Adventure, Citizenship, and Planet that you will find on our website.
Following discussions with employees, kids, parents, and other stakeholders in February 2020, these phrases were developed.
Every child's individuality is valued and celebrated at Milton Road.
In order to promote pro-social and sustainable "future-proof" skills like character education, citizenship, communication, critical problem solving, collaboration, and creativity and imagination (Michael Fullan's 6Cs for Deep Learning), we tailor our approach and offer rich learning opportunities (for kids and colleagues).
With the help of our learning platform SeeSaw, which enables individualised blended learning, we encourage our kids to be self-motivated and active learners. They are asked to collaborate with peers and family members on projects at school and at home.
We encourage our students to think of themselves as global citizens with a developing understanding of major social and ecological concerns and to think of themselves as changemakers who have the power to improve their school, community, and the wider world.
By include MindUp in our curriculum, we use the circle of well-being as a framework to foster a salutogenic and comprehensive understanding of wellbeing, including the significance of mental fitness.
Milton Road is a forward-thinking and globally-focused learning community that collaborates with parents, volunteers, and a wide range of national and international educational and other partners to ensure that we provide a top-notch and inspiring curriculum and an effective, pertinent, and research-informed pedagogy.
