The Medicines Health and Regulatory Authority (MHRA) updated its recommendations for patient reviews after metal-on-metal implant surgery.
Due to the modifications, it is now recommended for all patients having these implants to have their blood metal levels checked in accordance with MHRA standards, and certain patients may need to undergo ultrasound or MRI scans.
Due to this new advice, Nuffield Health has been in touch with patients who we think had Metal on Metal Implants at one of our facilities.
You can find out if you might be advised to be tested by contacting the Matron at the Nuffield Hospital where your hip surgery was performed if you believe you had a metal-on-metal hip implant while receiving treatment for a joint replacement in a Nuffield Health hospital but have not yet heard from us.
For the treatment of anterior or posterior vaginal wall prolapse, transvaginal mesh is used.
We shall fully adhere to the recommendations made by NICE regarding transvaginal mesh repair of anterior or posterior vaginal wall prolapse and will no longer use mesh in this treatment.
For women who experience difficulties after having vaginal prolapse or urinary incontinence mesh inserted, the NHS is now in charge of ordering specialised services.
Visit this link to find a list of hospitals chosen to offer these specialised treatments as well as a number of patient information leaflets: https://bsug.org.uk/pages/for-patients/mesh-information-leaflets/156.
Our evaluation is being conducted as a result of two patients of Professor Galloways at Nuffield Health experiencing an uncommon complication related to the placement of their gastric band.
In 2015, Professor Galloway left his position as a physician at Nuffield Health.
We reached out to Mr. Kaloos' patients (as of September 2016) to get their opinions on the care he rendered.
At Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital, Mr. Kaloos' ability to practise medicine is still suspended.
The employment of Professor Derek McMinn at the Edgbaston Hospital of BMI Healthcare was terminated in March 2019.
We would want to reassure patients that we are collaborating with the GMC on their continuing investigation into Mr. Michael Walsh in light of recent media reports regarding a previous consultant.
