Children with exceptional needs in preschool need specialised care and development.
The playgroup, known affectionately as MOP, is distinctive in the neighbourhood for offering early intervention for pre-school children, the majority of whom have a wide range of diagnoses, such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down's syndrome, visual impairments, speech and language delays, and various other genetic and neurological issues.
We have a group of skilled, seasoned, and driven employees who are aware of and supportive of the demands and educational requirements of the kids.
For more than 30 years, Marlow Opportunity Playgroup operated as a branch of the British Red Cross.
Our playgroup, which was once headquartered in Marlow, moved to its current location—The Scout Hall, Wooburn Green—in January 2011.
At MOP, generating options and possibilities is a regular occurrence. Through the provision of a wide range of stimulating daily activities in the context of a development programme, assistance is provided to improve fine and gross motor skills.
Messy play, art and craft projects, sensory play (including a sensory area), building activities, role playing, small world play, music and movement, visually engaging stories, and outdoor play are all included in the list of activities.
The kids enjoy playing with their friends while having the necessary level of adult supervision to guide and direct them as needed.
Education places a high value on communication, and all students are encouraged to do so through talking, pointing, eye pointing, using the Picture Exchange Program (PECS), or signing Makaton.
We utilise Makaton signing throughout the session and are compassionate and encouraging to assist each child express their needs.
To provide children, mainly those with special needs, up to the age of 5, with a secure, loving, engaging, and enjoyable environment so they can learn through play.
to use a modified curriculum while pursuing the Early Years Foundation Stage, ensuring that each child's unique needs are accommodated and upholding equality of opportunity at all times.
No matter how complex their demands, we want to make sure that every child has access to a top-notch pre-school education. Without the playgroup, the majority of these kids would miss out on this critical period of development.
All of our children should leave their current setting with a developing sense of self-assurance and independence, as well as the skills they will need to succeed in school, whether they attend special or regular educational facilities.
