From the Locking Preschool
A child's first five years of life are critically significant. Children's future health, happiness, growth, development, and academic success at school, in the family, community, and in general are all shaped by them. We make sure that all of our kids have equal opportunity to advance in their development. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the significance of the COEL are our two main areas of concentration at Locking Preschool (Characteristics of effective learning). The kids get to participate in activities that the whole team works on and that are tailored to their interests, giving them the chance to explore, learn, and have fun. We have a "Topic week" when we focus on various events, customs, and occasions like Under the Sea, Chinese New Year, Space, and many others. The children have access to activities to enhance their physical development, personal social and emotional development, communication and language development, mathematics, literacy, understanding of the world, and expressive arts and design each week as we cover a different topic. In addition to our Topic Week, our preschool provides a variety of open-ended resources like sand, water, clay, and materials to foster our children's creativity and imagination. We also have a great, relaxing sensory area that all children enjoy, especially our smaller ones.
