Sam and Paul opened the Anstey nursery in 1994, which marked the beginning of the Lilliput Montessori family of nurseries.
The success of this nursery prompted the opening of nurseries in Glenfield, Coalville, Whetstone, and, most recently (as of this writing! ), Leicester Forest East.
Lilliput Montessori, only the second nursery group in the history of the United Kingdom, has become an employee-owned company as of May 2019.
This means that a Trust acting on behalf of the employees owns a sizeable portion of the company, with Sam and Paul, the company's founders, holding the remaining shares. The Trust has a Board that consists of the Founders, as well as several employees and two independents. The firm will always focus on maintaining the Montessori ethos and the holistic welfare and education of the children at its core. The day-to-day operations have not altered, and we all still have the same obligations.
We like to stay current on new and amended childcare-related ideas as a group. We are all presently striving to become certified as Healthy Tots. Developing a culture and environment that supports health and wellbeing is essential to achieving Healthy Tots certification. It emphasises physical activity, emotional wellbeing, and healthy diet. Our nurseries in Anstey and Whetstone have received accreditation, and the others are trying to do the same within the next 12 months. We are proud of this.
