Community Futures' mission in Lancashire is to create and promote healthy, sustainable communities. Although Community Futures is used as the working title, the organisation is officially known as Community Council of Lancashire. It was established in Manchester in 1934 with the intention of reducing poverty during the Great Depression. Although the organization's activities have evolved over time, its primary objective has been the provision of services that support, promote, and preserve communal life. Working across the entire county, we help local communities grow and be empowered in a variety of ways, including by assisting them in obtaining grant money and statutory funding to improve their physical and social environments (this could include anything from remodelling the community centre to installing defibrillators in neighbourhood stores), and by giving the appropriate information to community organisations that need to know how to maintain or develop services (How do you write a tender? In order to offer community groups, nonprofit organisations, and individuals the confidence to make changes for themselves or the people they assist, they deliver a wide range of training (How do you acquire money for a good idea?). Community Futures' headquarters are located in Brentwood House in Fulwood, Preston, where we also host meetings, conduct training sessions, and administer resources for our members.
