From the Hornby Day Nursery Limited
Originally constructed in 1873 as the village's elementary school, the structure served this function until the early 1960s, when a new school was constructed across the river. The structure and the neighbouring house were purchased by the nursery's owners in 2001, and both homes have undergone extensive renovations. The ancient school has been completely renovated and transformed to offer a two-story, purpose-built nursery and after-school programme with on-site food, laundry, and staff facilities. The daycare centre debuted in January 2004. Our Ofsted registration allows for a maximum of 60 children, including up to 12 infants and 16 children who are 2 years old. Preschool children over the age of three are catered for on the main floor, and separate after-school programmes offer wraparound care for kids up to age 11 at Hornby and Wray primary schools. Although there are separate sections on the first level for infants and toddlers, there is still an open layout to encourage interaction and smooth transitions. To the rear of the nursery is a safe, all-weather playground that is used periodically by children of all ages.
