Heavitree Community Preschool implicitly incorporates the core British principles of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, respect for one another, and tolerance for people of all religions and beliefs into its daily operations.
We actively encourage diverse appreciation, opportunity equality, inclusiveness, and British values.
Early interactions and experiences influence social and emotional development, which also takes equality and British ideals into account.
Children's earliest skills are supported by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) so that they can develop into social citizens in an age-appropriate manner. These skills include the ability to listen and pay attention to directions, understand right from wrong, recognise similarities and differences between themselves and others, form and maintain friendships, develop empathy and consideration for others, take turns during play and conversation, assess risk, and be aware of rules.
The staff at Heavitree Community Preschool encourages kids to see their role in the bigger picture as part of the emphasis on self-confidence and self-awareness. They also encourage them to know that their opinions matter, to respect one another's opinions and values, and to talk about their feelings, such as recognising when they need help or not.
By encouraging children to take risks on the climbing frame, mix colours, talk about their experiences, and learn from others, teachers provide kids the chance to gain self-awareness, boost their self-esteem, and enhance their confidence in their own skills.
Children at Heavitree Community Preschool are encouraged to engage in a variety of activities that help them learn about the language of emotions and responsibility, reflect on their differences, and realise that it's okay to have different opinions. One such activity is talking about how we're feeling today during carpet time and throughout the day.
