We are a small, family-run business that offers charm and character from a former listed building.
We have existed in this location for more than 23 years, making us one of the first nurseries in the area. Children from 6 weeks to 5 years old are cared after by Harlequins on 2 floors in our caterpillar room and butterfly room. In a year, we work 51 weeks.
We are pleased to present to you our off-site excursions. The zoo, the theatre, strawberry and pumpkin picking, walks in the Blue Bell Wood, and many more activities.
The building that houses Harlequins Day Nursery was initially constructed in the 1860s as Leicester's first steam-powered hosiery factory and is now listed as such. The current owners bought the dilapidated structure in 1996 and had it completely rebuilt from the ground up, leaving just the walls remaining. It had a complete architect ideas refit and was constructed to accommodate child care.
We have electronic door access, and the nursery has full-color security cameras that monitor who enters and exits. The Butterfly Room still has many of the original fixtures and has a vaulted ceiling with many hanging decorations that will surprise and delight both parents and kids. The Caterpillar Room is cosy and welcoming with its original stairway, rafters, and pulleys that previously powered the weaving looms that once stood nearby.
