From the Grove Community Project
For the community in Handsworth, Birmingham, Grove Community Project has expertise offering high-quality childcare.
We offer spaces for the education, entertainment, and care of kids aged 0 to 12 as well as their families.
We are aware that providing high-quality childcare requires an understanding of each child's needs.
A key component of this is getting to know the family and including them in the development of their child.
Once a term, we welcome parents of children in the Nursery and After School Club to come see their work and meet with staff to talk about development.
Our users benefit from solid continuity, which enables staff to establish positive relationships with the kids and their families.
At Grove Community Project, we adhere to the Reggio Emilia philosophy, an educational theory that was developed in Reggio Emilia, Italy, and is based on a child-centered approach to learning.
Children from the After School Club have their own Children's Committee, which meets to discuss ideas and provide feedback on how the organisation makes decisions.
We also promote a healthy lifestyle, and in March 2009, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham presented us with a Healthy Setting Award.
Sports participation is encouraged, and nutritious meal and snack options are available.
Since our initial inspection in 2004, we have regularly received the rating "Good," with several inspectors praising the children's excellent progress in the stimulating learning environment.
