You can submit a petition or e-petition if you reside, work, or attend school in Leicestershire, and we will investigate it.
The subject of your petition must be one over which the council has jurisdiction.
Only petitions with over 10,000 signatures or petitions related to items on the agenda for a meeting may be submitted to the Cabinet or the entire Council.
The Service Director will reply to petitions pertaining to a single electoral division after consulting with the Local Member and the Cabinet Lead Member.
The relevant oversight and scrutiny committee may take into consideration petitions that have more than 1000 signatures and concern two or more election divisions.
The chief petitioner or county council member will be required to read the petition's language and declare the total number of signatures.
If you are the Lead Petitioner or we have questions about the particular petition you have submitted/signed, we won't contact you and won't publish the contact information you have supplied.
The information will only be used to confirm that the petition has the necessary number of signatures and that the signatories reside, work, or attend school in Leicestershire.
The data won't be kept longer than 4 years after the Committee meeting when the petition was evaluated, in accordance with our Retention Schedule.
