I genuinely think that children learn at their best when they feel safe and happy and when the education is tailored to their interests. I have worked with children from the ages of 2 to 6 from a variety of backgrounds.
After taking a break to have my children, I have been a primary school teacher for 16 years, working with students between the ages of 4 and 11.
I've worked at an infant school for the past 14 years, teaching children from the ages of 3 to 7, and I have a tonne of experience in both the Early Years and Key Stage 1.
I also spent 12 years living in Spain. During that time, I worked as a coordinator of environmental education for FAPAS, an NGO that promotes wildlife conservation, for about 6 years. My duties included organising, managing, and supervising environmental summer camps for groups of kids and teenagers aged 5 to 17 in the Picos de Europa mountains.
I really believe that exposure to nature is crucial for a child's development and mental wellness.
I also have a teaching credential, and before having my daughter, I taught kids between the ages of 4 and 8 years old.
Working with kids allowed for so much inventiveness, which I adored.
I'm looking forward to having plenty of adventures with the Foresteers kids.
At Foresteers, we think that virtually every aspect of the Early Years Foundation Stage may be related to a forest school activity, if not all of them.
Then, we expand the narrative by asking the kids if they would like to assist in creating the homes for the snake, fox, and owl characters in the book using only natural materials.
It is a terrific opportunity to act out the entire story as a group from beginning to end while moving around, using different voices, and having fun once the kids are interested in the activity (and it is OK if some don't want to join, spontaneous play is very useful).
Personal, Social, and Emotional Development: As we read the book, the kids can discover the emotions of the animals and discover how to work as a team.
Physical development includes moving around the forest in various ways and honing fine motor skills while constructing various animal habitats.
Understanding of the world: Since the kids are already in a natural setting, they are observing their surroundings, spotting insects as they move logs, observing how the seasons change, and observing how the plants are either growing or dying.
Expressive Arts & Design: The children's imagination is sparked by this exercise since they are imagining the story, which they will inevitably develop as they play after the primary activity is over.
Obviously, this is just one example of an activity.
Other activities include dinosaur adventures, scavenger hunts, pond dipping, natural art, bushcraft, mud sculptures, and fairies.
Our teachers will make plans for children to learn in their own style if they choose to do so.
Each portable toilet is set up within a pallet toilet block at Foresteers Outdoor Preschool.
After using the bathroom and before eating, staff will teach kids about hand washing and watch out for their use.
For any youngsters wearing diapers, there are changing mat facilities.
We cover from the weather, enjoy a warm drink and a story in our Kota Grill House, which comfortably sleeps 30 kids, before setting out on another adventure.
