Folksworth Pre-School

Activities: Staff plan interesting activities that thoroughly engage the children. They show awe and wonder as they let their butterflies fly free after nurturing them from a cocoon.

Skills , Knowledge and Behavior: Children make good progress in literacy skills. They recognize and write their own names and the names of their friends.

Communication: Staff provide regular updates on children's progress, such as at parents' evening.

Programs and Resources: Children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities are provided with extra visits to the school to help them to become familiar with the routines, environment and teachers.

Welcoming and Professional Staff: The staff team has shared this journey and comment that they feel proud of what they have achieved.

Safeguarding Training: Staff have good knowledge about child protection. They know how to act promptly and effectively should they have a concern about a child in their care to keep them safe from harm.

Play and Learning Integration: Staff have a natural ability to sensitively intervene as children explore. Consequently, children are inspired learners and they persevere in activities for long periods of time.

Transition to Primary School: The manager has developed strong partnerships with the neighboring school and this results in children having a very positive transition into school when the time comes.

Child Safety Management: Staff have good knowledge about child protection. They know how to act promptly and effectively should they have a concern about a child in their care to keep them safe from harm.

Teaching Personal Safety: Staff empower children to think about their actions, for instance, saying, 'You need to tell your friend to stop and ask them to help you instead.'

Happiness and Settling: Children benefit from the individual attention they receive, and they develop extremely close relationships with their key person. This contributes very well to their emotional security.
