Fledglings on the Common

For children ages two to five, we provide exceptional daycare. Utilizing both nature and nurture to aid in a child's development is our ethos. Our childcare, which is Ofsted-registered, is located in the lovely Wandsworth Common grounds. We adhere to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) core curriculum at Fledglings while also providing play and discovery through our Forest School programme.
Children will have frequent access to hands-on learning opportunities during Forest School sessions in our neighbourhood gardens and woodlands, which offer the ideal setting for exploration and discovery. Through our sessions, kids can cultivate an enduring love and understanding of nature while also mastering the core competencies of the Forest School ethos, including the development of self-esteem, creativity, and confidence as well as the capacity to evaluate risks and come to their own conclusions.
The guiding principle of the Forest School movement is to inspire and motivate kids by giving them modest, manageable tasks to complete in a woodland setting, allowing them to gain confidence, independence, and a sense of value. When children are ready, they pick up new abilities, which keeps activities exciting and challenging while still being safe and under adult supervision. Children generally feel less constricted and are more inclined to participate in activities and interact with people when they are in natural outdoor settings because they equate these environments with freedom.
