We sincerely think that every child is a nice, smart, compassionate person with the potential to become a proud member of society in the future. This motivates those of us who are blessed to work in a Montessori setting to continue moving forward. Our children's physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual growth serve as the yardstick by which we assess our own efforts to deliver a high-quality, holistic education.
The young mind is like a sponge, according to Dr. Maria Montessori. It takes up knowledge from its surroundings (consider how a young child acquires his native tongue). The child enjoys learning this manner because he employs all of his senses to explore his surroundings. As a result, a classroom setting where he or she could interact with objects that would help the child understand fundamental educational concepts could enhance their experience.
Her notion that a child can learn to read, write, and calculate in the same way that he or she learns to walk and talk has been validated by more than 60 years of experience. The setting and tools of a Montessori classroom encourage the kid to do this at his or her own pace. Concentration is necessary for learning, and the greatest method for a youngster to focus is on a job that they are performing with their hands.
Every piece of furniture in the Montessori classroom encourages a kid to learn through using his or her hands and senses.
Dr. Maria Montessori once said, "Children are human beings to whom respect is due, superior to us by reason of their innocence and the larger possibilities of their future."
