From the First Step
In response to a request from some parents of young children with special needs and/or disabilities, First Step was founded in October 1988. They believed a group where they and others in comparable circumstances could communicate, share experiences, and offer support to one another in a nonjudgmental setting would be beneficial. Since then, the nonprofit organisation has developed to offer a variety of sessions and services. Currently, First Step provides support, knowledge, and encouragement to over 100 families with preschoolers. The goal of First Steps is to support every family and enable each of their very young children who have special needs and/or disabilities to reach their full potential.
