From the Elmhurst House Day Nursery
Since its establishment in 2013, Elmhurst House Day Nursery has provided top-notch daycare from a location in the middle of Stone. Our facility has 6 age- and stage-appropriate rooms spread across 2 floors. Have you ever questioned what this is and how it relates to early childhood education? The Emilio Reggio, Steiner, and Te Whriki methods to early childhood education are the ancestors of the curiosity approach. The secret of learning is curiosity. It inspires kids to go on adventures, think critically, and take initiative. We will transition our environment toward this type of learning throughout the upcoming months. No matter what it is used for, plastic is always the same. It is indestructible, has the same fragrance, and feels the same. The use of vibrant colours everywhere might overwhelm young toddlers. Toys made of plastic can only be used for the purpose for which they were initially intended. We intend to add a lot more natural resources to the area. We wish to inspire the kids to experiment with various scents and textures as well as to think critically and to express themselves creatively using these tools. By making the rooms look much more neutral and using neutral colours in our displays to let the children's work shine out, we have already started. Additionally, we made a request for loose components on the A Little Bit of Stone Facebook page to assist us start our collection. Visit us to witness for yourself how we are beginning to enter a whole new learning environment.
