Elm Cottage is a privately owned company that its director, Yvonne Thomas, founded in 1989.
Yvonne was a scientist with four very young children who specialised in brain research.
Sadly, her two-year-old child underwent surgery to have a brain tumour removed.
The first Elm Cottage nursery opened its doors in 1989 as a result of this successful effort.
Years before Ofsted inspections and the need to provide a curriculum, this nursery curriculum was offered.
Families needed us to expand our services to include after-school care as children left our nursery to begin school, so in 1991, we created our first organised after-school club at Didsbury Road Primary School.
So you can see that what brought us here, thirty years ago, was not a commercial plan, but a passionate desire to give every child the finest nurturing and educational environment possible.
Our goal at Elm Cottage has always been to provide every child the best start in life and to assist them as they reach their full potential.
Early childhood experiences have a significant influence on a child's chances for success in adulthood.
The basis for children to maximise their skills and talents as they grow up is a safe, secure, and happy childhood, which is vital in and of itself.
the highest quality available for the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage).
Considering the needs of all children and creating an atmosphere that is stimulating and appropriate for their developmental phases
keeping a flexible strategy that reacts rapidly to the developmental and educational requirements of kids.
We aim that each child in our setting has the early experiences necessary to establish a solid foundation for learning throughout school and beyond. This is essential for a child's future success.
