To offer something unusual where I was teaching, I first became a certified Forest School Leader.
I knew I had found my place as soon as I entered a Forest School.
It was exactly what I thought teaching ought to be.
I want parents and kids who don't feel like they belong in the educational system to share the same sentiments.
If children are to learn, they need to feel comfortable and at home in their surroundings.
They are let down by the system, which is what I want to change.
I initially tried teaching Forest School as a side gig, but it wasn't enough.
I wanted to give it my all.
That's what I did in September 2019 therefore.
I took the risk and invested my heart, emotions, and the majority of my savings in starting Compass Forest School.
The rest is history, as they say, and a thriving neighbourhood of content children who are learning at their own pace, in their own way, in a completely natural outdoor environment, while their parents enjoy some alone time.
