Activities: Children busily wash the play cars, discover properties of soapy water and sponges, and race 'as fast as they can' on play vehicles promoting strength and stamina.

Skills , Knowledge and Behavior: Teaching promotes understanding of words like fast and slow; children combine excellent self-control with eager engagement.

Communication: Managers work in close partnership with parents and involve them in making decisions about additional funding.

Programs and Resources: The provision for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is a strength of the nursery.

Staff Training: The special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) incorporates advice from specialist professionals into children's individual programmes.

Welcoming and Professional Staff: Parents describe the nursery as a home from home and say that all staff greet children warmly.

Safeguarding Training: Staff complete training that helps them to be alert for signs that children are suffering abuse or neglect.

Play and Learning Integration: Children's behaviour and self-assurance are excellent; they become deeply involved in their self-initiated exploration.

Transition to Primary School: Children regularly take part in listening activities and pre-school children learn that words have beginning and end sounds.

Child Safety Management: Staff make sensible assessments of hazards to children in the nursery, such as limiting three children at a time on the outdoor wooden ship.
